About me:
Originally from England, I made Norway my home many years ago. My diverse educational and professional background provides me with a broad and international perspective. I hold certifications as an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Couples Therapist and Supervisor and am affiliated with the International Center for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT), based in Canada and the USA.
My academic journey includes degrees in the Humanities and Special Education, a master’s degree, and a professional qualification in Special Education from the University of Oslo. I have undergone clinical training in Family Therapy at The Arctic University of Norway (Tromsø) and pursued advanced studies in Systemic Family Therapy and Narrative Therapy at the Regional Center for Child Psychiatry in Oslo. Additionally, I am professionally trained and autorized in Integrative Psychotherapy through the Fritz Perls Institute in Germany. My work has also incorporated Music Therapy and Storytelling as an Healing Art, and I have published in these fields.
Professional Experience
My lifelong work as a therapist, and having to live with my own vulnerability has made me humble toward the challenges others experience in their encounters with life. I firmly believe that being met with openness, curiosity, engagement and genuine care plays a vital role in helping people heal – both within in relationship to others. I have had the privilege of working within all levels of the health and education system. The nurturing og relationship has guided my work as teacher, educational psychologist, researcher, psychotherapist, family and couples therapist, and clinical supervisor.
With support from the state department for children, young people and families in Norway, I led a project starting in 2016 to translate and adapt a program ("Hold Me, Let Me Go")to help families navigate the turbulent teenage years. This is now offered to families in many municipalities across Norway. Since 2023, I have also been working on providing a similar program to support or heal relationships between adult children and their parents ("Hold Me, Let Me Be Me").
Private Practice
I offer therapy for couples, families, and individuals through my private practice in Oslo, Nesodden, and online.
My approach emphasizes the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment to explore challenges and help build stronger, more fulfilling relationships.
